N.E.C. Nijmegen signs players for CL-adventure

For the first time in its history, N.E.C. Nijmegen must submit a player list for a Champions League qualifying round match. The deadline for this is Thursday evening at 23:59. Therefore, the Nijmegeners have little time left to sign players for the two-legged tie with Olympiakos.

Why it matters for N.E.C. Nijmegen

N.E.C. Nijmegen qualified for the third round of the Champions League qualifying round via the third place in the Eredivisie last season. Next Tuesday, the team of Dick Schreuder will play in Greece, before a week later the return match will be played.

What comes next?

On Thursday, N.E.C. Nijmegen must submit the player list for the two-legged tie. Or rather: the A-list. This may contain 25 names, of which at least eight locally trained players, players who have been trained in their own country. Of those eight players, at least four must have been trained by the club itself.

How does the B-list work?

The B-list, intended for young players, may still be submitted on the day before the first match against Olympiakos. On this list are players who were born in or after 2005 and are two years eligible to play for the club, or three consecutive years for N.E.C. with a loan in their own country of a maximum of one year.

Consequences for N.E.C. Nijmegen

Newcomers Adam Tahaui and Clement Bischoff may therefore not be included on the B-list despite their age and must appear on the A-list, if Schreuder wants to use them against Olympiakos.
