N.E.C. Nijmegen is set to sign Ahmetcan Kaplan from Ajax. The Turkish defender played 25 Eredivisie matches for NEC Nijmegen last season, scoring one goal and receiving ten yellow cards. Coach Dick Schreuder has often expressed his admiration for the Turkish left-back, who was signed by Ajax from Trabzonspor for 9.5 million euros in the summer of 2022. In the Johan Cruijff ArenA, Kaplan struggled to meet expectations due to serious knee injuries. According to multiple sources, NEC has indicated the maximum amount they are willing to pay for Kaplan, but Ajax is currently demanding more. This is because Besiktas has also expressed interest and technical director Jordi Cruijff appears to be waiting for an official bid from Turkey or another competition.
