N.E.C. Nijmegen is gearing up for the UEFA Champions League qualifiers beginning on August 4th, and it’s no surprise that Dusan Tadic has been signed to bolster their ranks. The 37-year-old, who was largely forgotten after leaving Fenerbahce in January despite being under contract until mid-2025, is back home to bring more flair to the Netherlands.

With his illustrious career at Ajax marking a celebrated UEFA Champions League run of 2018/19 that will forever be remembered, Tadic comes at a time when his ability to command possession on the pitch exceeds what it has been before. He was found in last year’s Transfermarkt (TMR) ranking after spending just over a year with Fenerbahce.

However, new technical director Carlos Aalbers is of the opinion that Tadic fits precisely where NEC needs him. “Sometimes an opportunity arises that you might initially think is out of reach for a club like NEC. Dusan Tadic is just such a player,” explains Aalbers.

“We believe in a good mix of talent and experience, and Dusan fits that bill perfectly. With his qualities and personality, he brings added value not only on the pitch but off it as well.”

After finishing his time at Fenerbahce, Turkey, and Al Wahda, Abu Dhabi, Tadic returns with an extensive European pedigree and a positive aura, driven by passion and determination.

The UEFA Champions League qualifiers kicked off against Olympiacos of Greece.
