N.E.C. Nijmegen plays an important role in the life of Rayan, a 17-year-old boy who fled Syria with his family as a child. In Nijmegen, he has gradually built a new life, but he felt insecure for a long time due to a language development delay. Through his school, he came into contact with Playing for Success from N.E.C., where he worked on his self-confidence and discovered new opportunities for the future. After the program, Rayan transitioned to Community Champions, where he found his passion for security. Thanks to N.E.C., he got the chance to intern in the club's security department. He now works on match days in N.E.C.'s security team while preparing for his exams. Recently, Rayan was surprised by Bryan Linssen in his brother's barbershop, where he spoke candidly about his past and the opportunities he has received through N.E.C. For Rayan, the club means much more than just football. The VriendenLoterij and N.E.C. Nijmegen are committed to creating an inclusive and strong society, and Rayan's story is a beautiful example of the impact football can have beyond the pitch.
