N.E.C. Nijmegen midfielder Dirk Proper (24) is being targeted by SC Heerenveen and Sparta Rotterdam. The clubs are interested in signing the midfielder, who has been with N.E.C. Nijmegen his whole life. Proper broke through at the Goffert at a young age and has since grown into a respected midfielder at the highest level. However, the cards were shuffled again last season, and Proper's playing time decreased due to the good play of Kodai Sano. Sano is waiting for a top transfer, which keeps the door open for Proper to leave Nijmegen. Proper has a contract for one more season and trainer Dick Schreuder wants to keep him at the club, but may let him go if the right offer comes in. The clubs are reportedly asking for around €1.5 million for the player. SC Heerenveen and Sparta Rotterdam have already shown interest in Proper. The interest in Proper is not surprising, as Sparta-trainer Rogier Meijer worked with Proper for years when he was still at Nijmegen. Heerenveen is interested in signing Proper because they are looking to strengthen their midfield with players like Joris van Overeem and Marcus Lindsay. Van Overeem and Lindsay are currently being courted by other clubs, but Proper could be a direct replacement. A longer stay at N.E.C. Nijmegen is not ruled out.
