N.E.C. Nijmegen has decided to part ways with Virgil Misidjan after a disappointing season. The 32-year-old winger, who joined from Ferencvaros last summer, failed to meet the club's expectations. During his time at N.E.C. Nijmegen, the team finished third in the Eredivisie, earning a spot in the Champions League qualifiers. However, Misidjan will not play European football with the Nijmegen club. Carlos Aalbers, the director of player affairs, confirmed that no offer for a contract extension will be made. Misidjan played only 535 minutes in seventeen Eredivisie matches, scoring one goal and providing two assists. The club had a clear playing style that did not align with his style of play. Aalbers noted that Misidjan plays differently than the desired attacking players. He tends to dribble inside, while the club seeks players who take on defenders. Therefore, Misidjan was not included in the plans of coach Dick Schreuder this season. The club now hopes for a better filling of the wing positions for the upcoming season.
