N.E.C. Nijmegen wants to sign Ahmetcan Kaplan from Ajax, but must break a record to do so. The Turkish defender has impressed in Nijmegen. Ahmetcan Kaplan came into action for Ajax due to injury, despite joining the club in 2022. Last summer, Ajax attempted to sell Kaplan, but ultimately chose to loan him out. N.E.C. was the chosen destination, despite interest from foreign clubs. In Nijmegen, Kaplan made an impression. As part of Dick Schreuder's team, the Turkish defender contributed to the club's third-place finish. Kaplan played 30 games for N.E.C. last season, scoring two goals. Dick Schreuder is also impressed with Ahmetcan Kaplan. The coach plans to push for the defender's permanent signing. "After securing a Champions League qualifying spot, N.E.C. Nijmegen is attempting to sign Ahmetcan Kaplan (23) from Ajax on a permanent basis. This is according to sources close to both clubs", reported De Telegraaf. N.E.C. is not the only club interested in Ahmetcan Kaplan, however. Ajax can still loan the defender.
