N.E.C. Nijmegen has sent Koki Ogawa and Deveron Fonville to the World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. For each day these players are with their national teams in the tournament, the club receives a compensation. This arrangement started on May 25 and continues until the day the players are eliminated with their countries. N.E.C. Nijmegen can expect a minimum of five thousand dollars per day, which is approximately 4326.40 euros. Ogawa and Fonville's last group match is scheduled for June 25, meaning they will be away for 32 days with their national teams. This results in nearly 140,000 euros per player. For the group stage alone, N.E.C. Nijmegen can look forward to a total amount of just under 280,000 euros. If Japan or Curaçao progresses further in the tournament, this amount will only increase. Japan faces the Dutch national team, Sweden, and Tunisia in the group stage, while Curaçao competes against Germany, Ecuador, and Ivory Coast. Both teams will make their debut on Sunday evening, with Curaçao playing against Germany and Japan facing the Netherlands.
